Ticket Too Far on Babelgum
The short film "A Ticket Too Far" starring Joe, with an appearance by his father, Alun Armstrong, is now available free (and legally) online through an official Rushes Soho Shorts channel on Babelgum. To explain, Babelgum is a program that streams videos, and they have worked out a deal with the Rushes Soho Shorts film festival, where ATTF was shown in 2006, to air some of the films from different years of the competition. I don't know how long this will be available, so I'd recommend watching it as soon as possible! (Really, why would you wait?) Unfortunately, the directions are a bit confusing and my screenchots of the program are a bit blurred, but hopefully you can figure this out!
First, go to babelgum.com and sign up for an account download the babelgum player. Then install and launch it. You have to sign-in with the account you created on the website, and then a random video will probably start playing. Click "tv" at the bottom to access the channel listing. In the top right corner there should be a search box, for the best results I'd suggest typing in "Soho newcomers 2006", because that's the film festival category that ATTF was in and the channels are organized by category. Your search results should look something like this:
You want to click on the image/play button next to the one that says "Soho Newcomers Category 2006". Note: in the bit of the description that comes up in the search category, you can't see ATTF listed, but trust me! If you click on the "i" symbol next to the listing, you get more details about the channel, and as you can see, "Ticket Too Far" is listed!
Once you've clicked on the channel and it starts playing, you're almost there. All of the short films in the 2006 Newcomers category have been combined into one vid, so you need to slide the timer forward to slightly after 20 minutes, and you should find Joe waiting for you there!
As you can see, I haven't yet managed to get clean screencaps from this, so if anyone does and wants to share, please drop me an email! Enjoy! ~HG
